About CITEC

CITEC Consulting Group is a not-for-profit business consulting and training organization dedicated to helping small and medium-sized enterprises in New York's North Country thrive. We focus on workforce development, leadership, lean/operational excellence, and HR training so employers can build stronger teams and more efficient operations.

CITEC combines deep local experience with access to a broader support network. As part of a nationwide community of manufacturing and business improvement specialists, our team can connect North Country employers with programs, resources, and expertise that most businesses wouldn't know exist — let alone know how to access.

Our Story

CITEC's roots go back to the early 1980s, when regional leaders and SUNY partners came together to support technology-based businesses and manufacturers in northern New York. Over time, that effort evolved into today's CITEC Consulting Group: a focused, not-for-profit organization providing practical training and hands-on support for the employers that drive the North Country economy.

Today, CITEC serves organizations across the seven-county North Country region, helping them navigate changing markets, workforce challenges, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Our clients range from small manufacturers on the shop floor to growing service businesses navigating their first HR challenge — and everything in between.

How We Work

CITEC is intentionally lean. A focused local team keeps us close to the ground and responsive to North Country employers' needs. When a project calls for additional or highly specialized expertise, we tap into a broader network of specialists and partner with other organizations across New York State that focus on areas such as cybersecurity, supply chain, or advanced technology.

For clients, that means one local relationship with access to a much larger bench of expertise, resources, and programs — without adding complexity to your project.

"CITEC has been a trusted partner of Plattco for many years, supporting nearly every department across our organization. Whenever we encounter a challenge, we know CITEC either has the tools to help us address it directly or can leverage their extensive network to advance our goals. They consistently bring valuable resources to our attention, often ones we would not have known existed, and help us navigate how to access and utilize them effectively. We look forward to continuing our partnership with CITEC for many years to come."

Our Network

CITEC is part of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) — a nationwide public-private partnership supported by the federal government, New York State, and local regions to help small and medium manufacturers compete and grow. Think of it as a network of specialists and resources designed specifically for businesses like yours.

Across New York State, there are several regional MEP centers, each with different areas of focus and expertise. When CITEC clients need help with something beyond our core services — like cybersecurity assessments, supply chain optimization, or advanced manufacturing technology — we connect them directly with the right partner in the New York MEP system. And when the challenge calls for it, we can tap into the expertise of nearly 1,400 specialists nationwide.

For you, that means working with one trusted local team who can open doors to programs, grants, and expertise you wouldn't easily find on your own — and who knows how to help you access them.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

CITEC has served the North Country for more than 40 years — we have outlasted recessions, market shifts, and changes in federal policy because our mission is regional, not transactional.
